Deerfield seventh-graders in Scott Pifer’s Life Skills class teamed up with the Deerfield American Legion Post 392 to put together 12 care packages for soldiers from Deerfield serving in the U.S. military, both at home and in Iraq and Afghanistan. As part of their service-learning project, students spent the past two weeks collecting pop cans to raise $230 for supplies to fill the packages. In addition, they received donations from Deerfield Farmer’s Telephone Co., Petersburg True Value Hardware, Iott Insurance and Gilson’s Hardware/Forche’s Archery. The Deerfield American Legion helped students put tog ether the packages and paid the cost for shipping the boxes.

The fourth graders in Mrs. Schoen's class have been studying Native Americans in their Michigan Social Studies book.  They created beautiful dioramas and written research reports about the Michigan Indians, which include the Ojibwa,  Potowatomi, Miami, and Huron tribes.  All of the students worked very hard and presented fantastic projects.

Seventh Grade students studied the Greek Gods in Ms. Beland's Social Studies class.
Students here are dressed as some of the Greek Gods.

Sixth Graders in Ms. Beland's class were archaeologists recently.

Pictured here are students examining American antiques.

Third Grade students were introduced to some basic skills using Microsoft Word.  They were
then asked to create a poster to represent themselves.  Below are some examples of these posters.
